About Us
Cases 4 a Cause helps small business owners in developing nations compete in the global marketplace by mitigating logistical hurdles and capacity constraints.
The Problem
The cost to ship one parcel from developing countries to the US can cost hundreds of dollars, and filling a shipping container can cost thousands, which is more than 4x the average annual income in many developing countries
How can local businesses expand if they're confined to selling locally because shipping is too expensive?
OUR solution
Provide a supply chain from the thousands of medical, dental, and teaching volunteers who visit these countries with luggage full of supplies, but return home with empty suitcases.
These volunteers pick up pre-paid packages from our partners in the cities where they served and fly back with them for us to sell in the US, with the proceeds funding our other ventures, like enabling access to education
How It Works
1. We identify and partner with trustworthy and admirable small NGOs in developing countries whose mission is to employ, educate and empower their workers (like our initial partners: Nyamirambo Women’s Center and PHARP)
2. We select the goods that will be most easily transportable and popular in the US market (e.g., bracelets and bags, not baskets or jackets) and send our partners pre-payment for the goods, along with an itemized invoice
3. We team with willing volunteers or professionals who are returning to the US from cities where we have partners;
4. We coordinate with the NGOs and inform them who will be picking up the ordered goods and when;
5. The volunteers transport the goods back to the US and deliver them to us to sell on the open market through craft markets, parties, and online, with proceeds going to worthwhile community ventures
